Finally I felt seen and heard and not judged. I was respected and supported to have authority as a parent. It shifted the narrative between DCP and myself from defensive parent to supported parent. Everything with my daughter has improved since Holly has worked with our family. However I still have major concerns about my 3 younger children ( Holly shares the same concerns I do believe) but its something I am navigating the best way I can considering. DCP doesn’t share the same concerns. My daughter loved Holly, and she has been one of the only social workers she engaged with and felt Holly genuinely cared about her and her future. She was always given respect and Holly taught me lots about how to navigate some tricky situations and also how to not take my daughters outbursts so personally and instead of reacting to them, I have healthy ways of responding to them showing empathy and understanding. Connecting Families and in particular Holly Hosking was a godsend to me. I’ll never forget Holly, she made a impact on me so personally I did my Certificate 3 in community services and currently studying Certificate 4 in community services with the hope to someday change other people’s life trajectory and help them navigate complex systems and have better positive outcomes – like Holly has given me. She truly is the bees knees of social workers.
