Aboriginal Social Worker

Shirley Young is an Aboriginal woman from the Nukunu people in South Australia, she has completed a Bachelor of Social Work-Honours, Diploma of Narrative Approaches in Counselling & a vast range of other formal and industry specific training such as infant mental health and perinatal mental health.

She has worked in various Public Service organisations over a period of 23 years in portfolios such as Health, Child Protection and Child & Adolescent Mental Health working in a variety of positions with Aboriginal children, young people, parents and communities.

Shirley provides social work services in portfolios such as reunification, therapeutic counselling for children and young people in out of home care, corporate training and development, cultural and clinical supervision to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal staff across the state & group work services.

She is a sought-after guest speaker at conferences & universities & sits on a variety of boards & working parties as well as co-authoring several published journal articles and the Director of Two Worlds Consultancy & Co-Director of Endless Eden
