Ellen joined Connecting Families in 2017. Ellen has a degree in Social Work (Hons) from the University of North London. Prior to studying Ellen worked in London in residential settings with children with disabilities, children in out of home care and a Residential Family Assessment Unit before moving to Australia in 2000.
When Ellen came to Australia, she worked with homeless women at Catherine House for four years and then worked in the Child Protection Department for twelve years, in a variety of roles. Ellen has also worked at Centacare with families impacted by substance misuse.
Ellen has a Diploma in Child Protection and is studying to be a Marte Meo therapist. Ellen is currently training in Partnering for Safety.
Ellen’s interests are in strengths based and socio political approaches to Social Work. Ellen enjoys working with disadvantaged families and working therapeutically to support families to remain together where safety can be assessed to be viable.
